I’m excited to be part of this project to raise funds to build a school in LOMBOK - rebuilding a school that was destroying in a 2018 earthquake.

It's a once in a life time opportunity that will make a real difference to the lives and futures of young children in an incredibly deprived part of the world.

I work in education, so see first hand the difference a caring, loving, supportive environment can make to vulnerable and deprived children. All children deserve the same start in life and this is my chance to make that a reality for some.

Our fundraising and the school build may have been put back a few months due to Covid-19 but we're still hopeful to be able to complete this in 2021/22.

Why Lombok?
In 2018, more than 500 people were killed, thousands of families where left homeless and over 400 schools were destroyed when a series of earthquakes struck the Indonesian island of Lombok.

Since then, Classroom of Hope (the main charity we partnered with to build the school in Cambodia) has been helping Lombok recover by building new schools. But thousands of children are still out of school because there’s been little overseas aide. There is also a huge problem with rubbish in Indonesia.

Together we’ll be building one of the first earthquake resistant schools in Lombok made with re-cycled plastic bricks. Yes that’s right, schools that will last longer than conventional schools, will help clean up the environment and create jobs too. How cool is that?

How much does the school cost?
Approximately £25,000 will build a three-classroom school made of re-cycled plastic bricks, although we’d love to raise more to build a bigger school or provide more resources. You can see how well we’re doing as a team HERE.

What happens to the money I donate?
All funds raised through this fundraising campaign (less exchange rates and bank charges) will go directly towards building the school Lombok and other projects run by Classroom of Hope. Each of us will be funding the cost of our trip to Lombok ourselves.

Please donate whatever feels right, to help us rebuild a school, community and island devastated by earthquakes and neglected by the world.
